Sized
- two sizes or more of the same nappy i.e. small/medium/large.
This allows for a better fit but does mean a second
and possibly third outlay once your baby has grown.
Many nappy brands offer 2 main sizes and this is all
a baby will need but there is usually an extra large
available in most brands for the larger toddlers.
Birth to
Potty (BTP)- an adjustable nappy that fits
from newborn to toddler. As theres no second outlay
for the next size up these are a more economical option
and a good idea if you have more than one child in nappies
as they can be used on different ages.
Shaped
- with a similar shape to normal underwear and shaped
like a disposable to fit around a baby with some elastication
at the legs and sometimes other areas to aid good containment.
Shaped nappies do require a waterproof wrap
Pocket
- usually a waterproof outer and lining stitched together
but with an opening at the back where the insert (absorbant
pad) is put into. There are however some shaped pocket
nappies that will need a wrap.
All-in-one's
(AIO) - a nappy and waterproof cover combined
to make a convenient 'one piece'.
Flat nappies
- sheeted, flat cloth such as terry towelling
or prefold nappies. These require folding and will need
a waterproof wrap
Shaped
and Sized nappies (need a wrap)
As you would expect
a normal nappy to look - shaped like a disposable to
fit around a baby with its own fastening style of either
aplix, poppers or nappi nippas. In a range of materials
like cotton terry, bamboo, micro-fibre and hemp to give
the ultimate absorbancy and comfort. These nappies need
a waterproof wrap and come in at least two different
sizes.
